About us
If we maintain that Geldermann has brought pleasure to Germany this is certainly not entirely untrue. As one of the very traditional producers of sparkling wine, we acquired the art of traditional bottle fermentation in France, as it later would become commonplace.
With the difference that we still cultivate this tradition, and most others don’t. This, and, of course, the people who have made Geldermann something quite special for the past 170 years and more, is what we would like to show you on these pages.
Tradition
Once you have enjoyed the quality shown by traditional bottle fermentation, you are hooked for all eternity. So it is for rather egotistical reasons that we have withstood the pull exerted by modern sparkling wine production methods for more than one-and-a-half centuries now.
However, our dissociation, if you will, from some aspects that modernity has afforded us does also come from where we come from, that is, Aÿ in the Champagne region in France.
Most people there have three gifts: a fine taste, sang-froid and a lot of stubborn resistance to changes in their traditions and artisanship. We and connoisseurs all over the world think that these are real virtues that you will also find in each and every Geldermann bottle.
